What is a Writing Coach?
My job as a coach is to help you solve the
issues and blocks that undermine your productivity as a writer. I’ll
guide you through difficult stages and offer feedback and resources until
you’ve reached your goal. Together, we will:
- Define the scope of
your project and fine-tune your goals;
- Identify challenges
and implement strategies for meeting them;
- Establish achievable
weekly goals to keep you motivated and writing; and,
- Most importantly, create
possibilities in your writing life so you’re actively writing
and producing,
As your coach, I’ll
help you stay committed to your project and accountable to your intentions.
Knowing that someone else is just as committed to your success will keep
you enthused, inspired, and motivated.
How Can I Help You?
-
If you dream of writing and have a great idea but just can’t
seem to get started, I’ll coach you on how to begin—and
keep going.
-
If you’re writing but can’t seem to finish a project,
I’ll coach you on how to stay on track and complete your
work.
-
If you’re in the middle of a writing project—big
or small—and need help getting organized or focused, setting
goals, getting unstuck and having a greater commitment to your
work, I’ll set goals with you and work through blocks
and problem areas.
-
If your inner critic is stopping you from writing, I’ll
coach you on ways to silence the critic and leave the editing
until after that first draft is written.
-
When you want an objective critique of your work, I’ll
read your draft and provide a detailed response, with questions,
comments and suggestions.
I work with beginning and experienced writers, both creative and
professional. I can help you take that first step and start writing,
dust off that project you’ve put aside for too long, or move
forward when you’re stuck. Coaching will inspire and motivate
you to progress to the next level of success and achievement! |
How does Coaching Work?
- 45 minute coaching session, usually twice a month by
phone, during which we discuss challenges, successes, and goals for
the upcoming week(s).
- Emailing of notes on our discussions with a list of the
goals you’ve committed to working on.
- Between coaching sessions, I’ll read your drafts
and offer constructive feedback that includes questions, comments, and
suggestions. I also offer resources, writing exercises and instruction,
when needed.
- Emailing between coaching sessions to keep you on your
path.
What’s the first step?
Complimentary Session! Before we agree
to work together, let’s have a 30 minute coaching session to talk
about your dreams and aspirations and the writing project you want to
complete. We’ll discuss the challenges getting in the way of achieving
your objectives, identify your strengths, and set up a strategy for reaching
your goal. From this session, you’ll learn how coaching can help
motivate you so that you’re writing, not just wishing you were.
There is no obligation and you decide how you would like to proceed.
Live your creative best! Email
me for complimentary coaching.
